Getting Started:

Please arrive 15 minutes before your appointment to fill out a health history.  While completing the paperwork keep in mind what your expectations are and what questions you have about acupuncture.  The more open we are able to communicate about your health the better the outcome.

We will discuss your symptoms in depth.  In Chinese Medicine pays attention to specific symptoms help develop an individualized treatment plan specifically for you.  For instance, notice when your symptom(s) started, what aggrevates/improves them, how long do they last, what is the nature of your symptom(s). Also notice what your chief complaint is, this will be the focus of the treatment, yet as your treatments progress other symptoms will be addressed.  Often the chief complaint and secondary symptoms are related.

What to expect during your first treatment:

During your first appointment we will discuss your health history.  Chinese medicine treats the person as a whole so questions will move beyond your chief complaint.  For example, digestion, sleep patterns, and lifestyle.  After an in depth assessment has been completed a treatment plan based on your chief complaint will be developed.  Treatment plans may consist of any combination of the following:  acupuncture, nutrition counseling, cupping, guasha, qi gong, tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage), lifestyle modifications, or exercises.  Follow up treatments will be discussed in particular to your condition.

This medicine is most effective when you are involved with your health.  Keep notes on how you feel in between treatments and we can discuss this to come up with the best treatment for you reaching your optimal health!

Allow 1.5 hours for your first session (includes intake and treatment) and 1 hour for follow up treatments.
